About the Artist
My inspiration comes from creating products that are completely re-imagined. Today, we live in a world where most things are made to be disposable and this is having a very negative impact on the Earth. I hope to awaken everyone to this reality and help us rethink how we made and use products throughout the world. All of my products are completely recycled, and every point of production is tuned so that my products are made in the most environmentally and socially responsible manner possible. I hope to inspire all to change their habits with disposable products and consider the entire life cycle of the products they use.
My other mission as an artist is to reveal to others the beauty that can be found in objects many consider outdated or trash. I accomplish this by redesigned old objects into something completely new, that still resembles its previous life.
I created my own tools which allow me to bend silverware very consistently and without damaging the silverware. I am constantly redesigning the tooling to allow for new and more complex bends. Check back regularly for new designs.
THE STORY OF MANCUFFS
Growing up in the Edgebrook/Wildwood community of Chicago, Mark Menarik enjoyed an interesting family dynamic where his only two Uncles were Archdiocesan priests and Aunt a nun. "Luckily, when WWII came along, my Dad quit the seminary and joined the Navy."
Obviously not encouraged to dress flashy, the two brothers did have a thing for ornate and handsome cufflinks. Upon their passing, these were handed down to Mark. "It was the coolest case of vintage cuflinks you can imagine, but I only owned one french cuff shirt. So how could I enjoy wearing and showing them off without taking several lifetimes?"
Being a general engineer in technology and also a bit of a graphics and visual artist, Mark got the idea to repurpose the right kind and style of vintage cufflinks into a unique masculine jewelry item and the perfect gift for guys. Paired with ultra-strong rare earth magnets and using an aerospace-grade metal to metal bonding process, high quality chrome dog tags and a touch of inspiration from ZZ Top (forgive me, Uncles) - ManCuffs were born!
Every ManCuff is one-of-a-kind and five designs in one; Lapel Pin, Necklace, Bottle Opener, Money Clip and more. So... skip the two foot beard, dress up any shirt, vest, jacket, scarf or leather item and find out for yourself if "... every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man".
Here are just a few examples of ManCuff's jewelry
