Sept 22nd Trunk Show with artist Bonnie Glassner
Trunk Show with Bonnie Glassner
September 22nd from 12-3,
Come in and meet Bonnie and learn about Alcohol Ink paintings. Take home something beautiful for your walls!
Here is what Bonnie has to say about her work
Alcohol Inks are a newer medium. They lend themselves to being able to ebb and flow on a substrate with a little coaxing. I call this medium the medium that paints itself. I can have one idea in mind and then the inks remind me they have a mind of their own.
I will explain how I painted or managed the inks to get the beautiful images you will see in my paintings. Most of the time I paint Expressive Landscapes, where no brushes are used. Gravity and turning of the paper and canned air are my best tools.
Sometimes I will paint abstracts, using colors that I know will mix together together well to form other colors. In these paintings I usually outline with paint markers. In these paintings I often use household materials such as coffee lid cups and wax paper.
Have a question about one of my paintings or what Alcohol Ink is? Come on by and I will be happy to explain my process in more detail.

Sept 1st 2PM - Candle Making Class with Milton & Margie
Make a soy wax candle!
Transform your favorite mug into an adorable soy wax candle in an interactive candle-making class. The class, led by Chicago candle-maker Jess Snively, creator of Milton and Margie’s Soy Wax Candles, teaches you everything you need to know to make a soy wax candle in a reused or vintage container.
She’s poured candles in nearly everything that can be described as a “container”—quirkier finds have included a glass cowboy boot, vintage egg cup, honey bear jar, and mug that says “He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother”—so feel free to go on a thrift-shopping spree before class.
Throughout the process, you’ll create your own signature fragrance from a blend of scented soy-based oils. She'll supply a bunch of eclectic oils with options from floral (e.g., Lavender and Juniper) to natural (e.g., Cedar and Eucalyptus) and sweet (e.g., Buttercream and Fudge Brownie) to rugged (e.g., Leather).
All the supplies are provided, including wax and fragrance oils.
You can bring your own container or purchase one onsite.
You’ll get 1 lb. of wax, and depending on the size of your container(s), you’ll leave with 1–2 completed candles. (For reference, 16 oz. of wax will fill a container approximately the size of a standard can of veggies.)
To help fuel your creative process, you'll sip wine from Local Goods Chicago!
What to Bring
Bring your own container(s) for the 16 oz. of wax or buy one onsite. (For reference, 16 oz. of wax will fill a container approximately the size of a standard can of veggies.)
All necessary materials are provided, along with wine!
Only 6 seats available!
Sept 1st, 2PM to 4PM

ABOUT The ARTIST
I spent a three month apprenticeship in Krakow, Poland with Janusz Bozek, a master craftsman whose pieces are exhibited in museums throughout Europe. The training from Bozek opened doors for me to the exciting dynamics of jewelry design.
Each piece is designed and crafted by hand in my home built Chicago studio using hammers, saws, punches, files and drills; while the inspiration of each design synthesizes with my interactions with nature by walking along Lake Michigan, reaching for my Northern Star (healthy lifestyle and running a successful jewelry business) and getting to know my clients desires
